Lord Glenn of House Rowan

There has been an awful lot of talk about this Sir Austin fellow around here, hasn't there? Everywhere you turn, tales of the great Hero-Knight of Emeron are on somebody's lips. Now, I was perfectly willing to let it be, let's have that straight right from the start, but Bella seems to be unsure of whether or not I could take the man in single combat. And to that, well, I can hardly keep silent, can I? She'll string up some suggestive song about cowardly tree knights clad in black and white, and oh, it would be messy, so messy.

I think I'll have to issue a challenge! My hand has been forced, I think everyone can agree.

Everything he said makes a good deal of sense. But I've known it all for some time, haven't I? I just haven't had to ... face it, not so clearly. Having it all laid out line by line by one of my closest friends, well, that's something very different. And what's worse, he needs me. Forbes is good at what he needs to do, that's so, but that he has to face this all alone ... How can I live with myself, knowing that I am choosing to remain here and serve a pagan faith, instead? Knowing that I could help him, and the Church never intends to cast a life line to either of us, and --

This isn't serving the Dragons. It's serving an organization that barely deserves the consideration, most days. Corrupt and ridiculous and more fearful of its reputation than the word of the Dragons proper. It's ...

Dragons Light and Dark, why is all of this happening now? I can't escape, now. Not until this business with the Council is done, at least. Every eye in the city is on Melyndra Destra, her insane daughter, and her pleasantly exotic Megami suitor. Why now?

Are you going to be back soon? Dragons, I can't keep track of all this on my own! People are going to start showing up any minute, and they're just going to find a pile of ashes where the house used to be!

I swear, if Inara is determined to be a little brat about this, just tell her she can't come. I've been tempted to do that all damned week anyway! She doesn't get to ruin this, okay?

Tell me, did you think I wouldn't notice what you were doing during this little match? Hoped I'd be too distracted cheering for my brother, I suppose?

I'm not blind, you know, and neither am I stupid.

Oh, you can go on and try to deny it if you like, but you can't fool me. I saw you, and I'm smart enough to deduce the meaning of what I saw.

Oh, Lauren ... please, please, please can we just ... not practice today? Please? Ah ... oh, I'm useless out there, I ... I'm sore every night and even my bruises have bruises.

Jace started counting them ... ah, to tease me, but ... well, he gave up at twenty. I bruise so easily ... it's my fair skin, I can't help, it, I ...

Oh, please ... I don't want to, please ...

Dragons, I need your help, this is an emergency.

Inara has herself all worked up about the party tonight. After you talked to her earlier this week, she seemed a little better, but, well ... here she does. Again.

I can never talk to her when she's like this, and Kolton is even less than useless. You ... you're the only one she'll ever listen to, with Nessa not here anymore.

I know you're probably swamped over there, but ... I don't suppose you could come over and help? Just ... calm her down? She's going to ruin this party left to her own devices, I swear it.

It's going to start soon!! Oh, I wasn't prepared at all to be watching this today, and I think it's going to be one of those fights you hear about for a long time! Lord Glenn, one of the big heroes who came up to help save Dentoria, and Sir Austin, one of the best of Emeron! You don't usually get to see this kind of thing outside tournaments!

Oh, and it's starting now! Dragons, this is going to be great!

Well played, gentlemen! I suppose your boasting was all well-deserved, Lord Glenn. There were a few close moments, but you were quite solidly the victor.

Mn, and I'd be sure to compliment Sir Austin on a fight well fought, but he appears to have thrown his sword and stalked off rather dramatically, hasn't he? Oh, well, perhaps later, once the sting of defeat has gone out of him somewhat. I suppose he can't be blamed for smarting a bit, in front of so many adoring your ladies.

An amusing diversion to be sure.

Men, I swear.
