I received a message from Father Leonard again today. He has arrived in Fairen and is staying at the chapel. He says he wants to come come by tomorrow, if we would be willing to have him. Of course I responded that we would love for him to visit. I hope that is alright.

Is it wrong to wish that Father would be having one of his worse days tomorrow? If he is well, that could mean ridiculous dragon lover might just make me return to my duties at the convent. If he is sick, then it would hardly be right for me to be forced back into work. Who would take care of Father in my absence? I can hardly trust Alistair and Eudora to do it. I hate seeing father at his worst, but this might be the one time it is an exception.

That stupid country is all that's on my mind lately. What the hell's wrong with me? I left that stupid country of fog and ghosts for a reason, and here I am thinking of returning. I even got a damn map out the other day planning how I'd get there if I left. I must be losing my mind.

  • Store nonperishable herbs
  • Sell perishables
  • Board up shop windows
  • Find someone to rent the rooms in the back and keep an eye on the place?
  • Talk to my suppliers

There's too much crap I'd have to do if I were to go through with this. I know I'm missing things too. The last two are going to be the worst.

So uh... I had an idea for a new song... and it's really different than everything else I've done. I thought it might be interesting to try and tell a story, but right now I just have a few lines that might be the chorus. I don't know. I don't think it's very good yet, and I know it's still too early to say but usually I get a song idea and it comes together a bit easier than this one is. It's not really something that would go over well in Korin either... I don't think. At least it's something to do between practicing my sword out in the training yard.

Speaking of which... a couple of the guards convinced me to spar with one of their rookies. I uh... actually won, for once. It was a close fight the whole time but I just barely pulled it off. I guess that means I'm getting better again, right?

It's been weeks now, and nothing else has happened. Maybe it is really over and they were just jealous and trying to make me look bad. If Grandfather thinks it's done, then it has to be, right? Now I'm just being paranoid, and that's exactly what they would want. I just need to relax and forget it ever happened.

Hey, so, I was just talking with Demi, and she and Inara and the others are all putting together a big meeting thing Thursday for this thing with Clarissa. Apparently there are actual floor plans now? It's at Anton and Inara's place, we're all going to have dinner and all that and discuss how doable everything is the way it's planned out. Not everyone's been on the same page, lately, with Ian and Clarissa working on so much of it themselves, you know?

I think it's a good idea, anyway. You'll come with me, right?

I should have expected something like this.

[Filter: Franel and its Retainers]

As you're all likely aware, Nessa, Jace, and I have been exploring the bottom floor of the castle for some time now. We've been using the map Danu gave to me, and we've made significant progress in the past few days. You see, we've found the place on the map that Danu wanted to show us. It's well hidden, and out of the way. If not for the map, we could have been here for years without finding it.

There is a secret door in the library on the first floor that leads to a stairwell. This stairwell leads down into a chamber that's as large as the entire bottom floor of the castle, and it's all empty except for a door on the far end. And a puzzle in the middle, too. We figured that with the end in sight, we might as well keep going. Nessa needed to enlist Jonathan and Aileen's help to get the puzzle figured out, it was some form of complex magic. We decided to go through the door to see if what we were looking for was there.

We're not that lucky, I'm afraid. There is a second chamber underneath, and it's as large as the first as far as we can tell. Instead of a magical apparatus in the centre, there is a statue made of Aurae. He moved his head toward us as we came closer to him, and when we tried to move around him to get a better look, he moved to keep his front to us.

It's at this point when all of us decided that it would be best if we had more people with us. Since this is a matter for all of us, and the reason we came, I think it's for the best if the five of you could be there with us tonight. Once we clear this obstacle, it won't be too much longer.

I don't care if she doesn't think I should come. I'm coming anyway. There is no reason I should stay here if she's in danger. I wanted to put the mystery of my parents' disappearance to rest, but they will keep. If Noye falls, I have nothing. There is a lot of sea between us, but that can be taken care of. The winds are blowing north now, and they're only going to get stronger from here.

It's a good thing the Ice Dragon was made for this kind of thing, even without her magic crutch. If I was still aboard the rig that brought me south, I wouldn't stand a chance against a warship at all.
