Okay.

Everything is all set up for tomorrow. This'll sure show Devine that he ought to have learned his lesson. He'll be super sorry once all of this comes to a close! Maybe he'll even be forced to join the army after all, wouldn't that be a funny twist.

It just all has to go perfect. I'll make it go perfect.

Hey, Leisa!

Are you coming to the party tomorrow?

Isaac must respond strongly to this. He must. What he's done is not enough to answer this. Tarmon has never gone so far, never dared, and if Isaac allows him to cross this line then he will cross it, again and again.

I have heard the rumours, the whispers that tell of what Isaac has threatened, but it means nothing until I hear it from him. Until all hear it from him. What did he ever expect me to do? If anyone will leash the monster that Tarmon has become, it must be the man who helped so cheerfully to create it. I pray that it makes some difference.

I don't know if I can do this.

How long before they send a pegasus to Aelvir?

And all of these rumours about war in the west ...

I should have been paying more attention. I need to know what's happening! How can I do this without even knowing what Taerin is really involved with, right now? I don't have any good reason to be here. It has to be common knowledge by now that the Taerin heirs have been out of the country for years. The only thing that gives us any chance at all is that this is enough to intrigue them ... it looks like I've been gathering foreign armies, doesn't it? Let them think I've spent all that time out there forging alliances our peers here would never expect. As long as they're interested, they'll let us stay. Taerin is a world away from here, but there's a reason Eina's lasted as long as it has. Anything interesting is usually dangerous.

... They'd probably be right, but not the way they think.

At least we haven't been arrested for conspiracy yet.

I still can't believe you came in with us! Why didn't your sister recognize you? Why doesn't anyone recognize you? You and Lady Ruisea ... you're practically twins. Is it something Nessa is doing? You said she was helping you, her and Elden, but I thought you meant you'd be disguised.

If anyone finds out about you, we're all going to be arrested. And probably executed. And they might decide to wipe my entire House off the map just to underline the point, afterward, too.

Ugh. There's definitely something going around at work. It might just be spring, a lot of people get sniffly around now, but we've been pretty shorthanded lately. I'm probably just going to start staying late, Daisy, just so you know. They could use the extra help, and I still feel fine, and ... it just doesn't feel right, leaving when there's still things I can do. Even if it's just little things.

Let too many of those pile up, and little things start turning into big things, right?

It'll probably get better when the weather settles down. All this swinging from cold to warm and back again, ugh. And the rain probably hasn't helped much, either.

He can't say that I haven't tried. Two months, he said, and I've given this nearly three. And I have been investigating. When there is nothing to find, well, what else can be expected?

Cousin ...

It's been wonderful visiting, but I thought I should tell you that I plan to make arrangement to return home, soon. Next week, most likely. You've been far too kind, and I want you to know that I've appreciated it.

And I do still plan on discussing everything we spoke of with Fallyn, when I return home. I'll be sure to keep you informed, should we decide anything.

I heard a rumour that a new ship pulled into the harbor, today, a truly fine Atsirian vessel! You can always tell the Atsirian ships, you know, the sails are so distinctive, and this one was filled with Atsirian ladies telling just the grandest tales about everything happening in the south! But apparently, they weren't very impressed with the knowledge that Princess Kelita and Prince Ian are courting, you know how Atsirians can be. They were rather rude about it, if everything I've heard is true, and why wouldn't it be? As though they think we couldn't manage a very impressive royal wedding of our own! Hmph!

Oh, but I do wish I could have heard the stories for myself. They won't be staying very long, everyone agrees. Atsirians never do.

You know, I never do seem to get to strolling near the docks, anymore ... I think I do miss it, a little. All of the best stories arrive fresh off the boats, you know.

Ugh.

Look, I wanted to apologize again for Lenore being such a brat whenever you come around. I don't know what's set her off this time, but you really don't deserve this. I've tried to talk to her about it, but she won't listen to me. She's apparently decided to make a habit out of not caring what I have to say.

I don't know if I can do anything to make it up to you, but if I can, you can just tell me, all right? I'm sorry she's being so awful.

Sooooo.

Of all the places we've stayed this is probably the most unnerving. Who's with me.
