Maire! It seems I'm not going to be in town for the Festival, sad to say. But I couldn't simply go home without giving you a gift.

Would you be able to have dinner with me, either tomorrow night or the night after? I know it's short notice, and I'm sorry. I just wanted to see you again before I went home.

If her brother had been there to catch her, there would be no problem.

I suppose the fact of it is that it still hasn't sunk in yet. I'm still not worried in the least about him, or about what he'll do to me.

I already know what he'll do to me, don't I? Haha. It's... funny. I know, and still it doesn't bother me.

...mmm. It's been a good distraction. I should tell Aeka ...my student that he's coming, shouldn't I? That he should run while he can.

...mmm. Later perhaps. Once I'm sure that he's... mmm, he can't be very far now, can he? He's probably breathing down my neck as I even write this.

It's a bit of a distance away.. I hope everyone gets them in time..

But ahh.. I am still unsure of what to get for Sir Trey and Lady Isanae.. ahh..

It certainly will be odd... being away from them for the Festival of Leaves..

..hmm..

At least I've sent their gifts to them..

Ahah, well, now that I've ascertained what precisely is going on, here, I see that my timing is impeccable. Travelers, welcome. Westa has been talking about your approaching arrival for many months, now. Allow me to extend the greetings of House Atsir to you.

Ah, and how rude of me ... apologies. I should introduce myself, no? Joseph of Atsir, one of the many heirs to Cleraine.

Intuitive things, these journals, no?

Mn, well, the road looks safe enough to me. I will admit, I have sign signs of a scuffle or two, but not a single bandit.

Eli, love, I'm so looking forward to seeing you again. How I've missed you. We should be in Temair within several days.

It is ... always so heartening, to see so many flock to the holy city in September ... they will all be well blessed for the time they have taken ...

Thank you. You and Lady Canti both. For taking me on your shopping trip. It was just lovely and I hope you both enjoyed it every bit as much as I did. What a lovely day that was. Doesn't it just feel lovely bloody h nice when you finally have all your gifts purchased?

I need a favour.

Whatever happens ... it can't be nearly as bad as what we've already done, right? I mean, after Norey, heh, I don't see how it can get much worse than that.

Yeah ...

So chin up.

Fresh food ... warm, soft beds ... walls around you while you sleep -- with your own room. A bath! No more sand in every crevise you've got! Clean clothes!

Who else is excited?

Razen at last! For a while, I thought we were never going to get here.

It's time to make some money.

-- and for the authorities, I didn't dock today, so don't bother looking for me among the new arrivals. I'm not stupid.

Is it horrible of me to hope that bandits tear her to pieces?

Yes, probably. But I don't care.

What a good job you've done, Aiden, telling your father of your troubles. Perhaps there is potential in you, my dear boy. Now, now, no worries, Father will take care of it.

Not now, however, I'm afraid. For now, you'll need more lessons, before your uncle visits and puts those ridiculous visions of dragons back into your head.
